Occupation: Kagome is a sophomore, working towards a Theatre/Literature double major. She also holds a part-time job at the Hamato Café, which is quite amusing considering how little she knows about coffee.
Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Kagome’s little spare time is usually spent reading (she loves a good Shakespearean romance), talking to anyone about anything, cooking, riding her motorcycle, and rehearsing for the next play. She tends to stay away from sports, as she’s rather clumsy, but she’s still surprisingly good at them whenever she gets over the fear of unintentionally giving someone a concussion.
Brief History: Many people often mistake the pretty girl as the epitome of romantic femininity. However, those closest to her (especially her younger brother Souta) know that this isn’t always the case. As much as she would prefer to be the prime example of your pretty, perky college kid, she can’t deny that sometimes she craves a bit of action. And so it happened that, upon graduating high school, Kagome traded in her pink bicycle for a bright red Kawasaki.
After all, she felt like she earned it. She didn’t get to do much in high school, since her mother held her under such high academic standards. Mr. Higurashi had come from a poor family and was forced to drop out of school to work, despite his dreams of one day attending law school. Mrs. Higurashi didn’t have the money to go to college and never quite had the grades for scholarships. When her husband died, Mrs. Higurashi told her children that they were now to train to be his legacy, which meant that little time could be spent on non-academics.
Kagome’s struggle paid off, and she graduated at the top of her class. When she went to Mishima University on a full scholarship, she was placed in an acting class by mistake and discovered a love for theatre. She continues to keep her double major a secret from her mother, knowing that she would never accept theatre as an actual academic venture. Mrs. Higurashi has enough of a problem accepting the fact that her daughter chose to study literature rather than pursue one of the sciences. She is still supportive of her daughter and claims that Kagome is old enough to do whatever she wants to do, but Kagome can’t help but feel guilty any time she does something that she knows her mother would rather she not do.
Kagome’s dedication to her studies has not worn off, though she did go a little overboard with her new freedom during her freshman year. Though most of her nights were spent at relatively mild parties with almost no alcohol, rumors have spread about her personal life that have led Kagome to be a little more reserved this year. She’s hoping to land on the President’s List and find a nice, quiet boyfriend, in hopes of improving her reputation.
